not supposed to be here

Walking back from the beach with the boys yesterday afternoon I saw this along the trail. "You're not supposed to be here now," I thought to the little thimbleberries. They were just too perfect for mid-October, ripe and sweet (I presume, only Rafferty knows for sure how they tasted, and he's the one who dips watermelon in ketchup so I wouldn't trust his flavour description anyhow).
I've had this feeling a lot lately. One of my kids will make me laugh a real laugh, or something about they way they look at me will cause my heart to giggle, and I think, "Hey! You're not supposed to be here you know. But I'm really glad you are!"
